ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - The city of Albuquerque has red-tagged the offices of a company that handled donations of bodies for medical research, labeling the building a biohazard that must be cleaned up.
The head of Albuquerque's public safety department, Darren White, says city officials will work with the property owners to clean up health hazards he says were caused both by decomposing bodies and unknown chemicals at the Bio Care site.
White says one of two commercial walk-in freezers used to store bodies and body parts was not working.
Bio Care's owner, Paul Montano, was arrested on fraud charges after seven heads, a torso and several limbs found at a Kansas medical waste company were traced back to his company.
