HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - A man convicted in the 2000 robbery and shooting death of an El Paso high school senior faces execution.

William Josef Berkley is scheduled to die Thursday night in the state's death chamber in Huntsville. Berkley was condemned for the March 2000 slaying of 18-year-old Sophia Martinez.

The teen's body was found in the desert near El Paso two days after she was robbed at a drive-thru ATM. She had been shot in the head five times, and there was evidence she'd been raped

Berkley, who's 31, would be the sixth Texas inmate to receive lethal injection this year in the nation's busiest death penalty state.
