SAN ANTONIO (AP) - San Antonio police say a battery explosion led to evacuation of a hospital emergency room and a parking garage for several hours.

Police say nobody at Methodist Hospital was injured. Staff and patients were allowed to return early Monday after being evacuated to the parking lot.

Police say the battery was in a storage room when the explosion happened late Sunday, causing a potentially dangerous mix of chemicals.

Capt. Cris Andersen says hazardous materials crews worked to clear the air.
