OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for part of the Oklahoma Panhandle and a frost advisory for adjacent areas in northwestern Oklahoma.
A freeze warning for Cimarron County in the western Panhandle will be in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday. The weather service says if temperatures stay below freezing for several hours, crops and unprotected plants may be damaged or killed.
Forecasters also issued a frost advisory for 14 counties for the same time period.
Temperatures are expected to range from 33 to 36 degrees in Beaver and Texas counties in the Panhandle.
Readings are forecast to bottom out in the upper 30s in 12 other counties, but the weather service says isolated locations could see temperatures fall into the low- to mid-30s.
