TUCUMCARI,NM -- New Mexico State Police are investigating a Monday night "controlled crash" of a plane. Once the plane landed officials found more than 400 pounds of marijuana.
According to the Clovis News Journal, NMSP Lt. Cleo Baker said the plane landed in a field south of Tucumcari. The pilot, has been identified as a 34-year-old man from Louisville, Kentucky. His destination is unknown. The pilot was forced to land the fixed wing plane on ranch land a half mile off of State Road 209 in Quay County.
Baker said no arrests have been made yet.
