Dumas arsonist pleads guilty to criminal mischief

DUMAS,TEXAS -- Michael Chase Baldwin, 19, pleaded guilty in a Dumas courtroom in connection with a fire that broke out in the city's probation offices.

69th District Attorney David Green says Baldwin broke into a storage building took a can of gas, then broke into the probation office and set it on fire. He then stole a county car and left the scene.

Baldwin was given twenty years in prison, for a first degree felony charge of Criminal Mischief, and a $1,500 fine.

He was also ordered to pay restitution for the damages of $828,000.
