AMARILLO,TEXAS -- Law enforcement officers were honored on Wednesday at the Annual Memorial for Law Enforcement Officials who have lost their lives in the line of duty across the Panhandle.

Officers from 26 organizations were on hand for the color guard and wreath laying to honor the brave men and women.

A group of officers from Indiana were also at the ceremony. The group is walking Route 66 to raise awareness for the National Law Enforcement Officer's Memorial Fund.

"We're all brothers and we all are united together for one common cause and this is it. This is what its all about...what we're doing is showing awareness of that and honor them also," said Indiana police officer, Sgt. Randy Roller.

Nationally, almost 19,000 officers have lost their lives serving us.
