DALLAS (AP) - Southern Methodist University's Meadow's Museum has learned that at least two of its paintings were among those Nazis Germany stole from Jewish families more than 65 years ago.
The director of a group that tracks down stolen Nazi art says he discovered the paintings' connection to World War II plunder while doing research for a book.
SMU's Nicole Atzbach says the museum bought the paintings at auction and didn't know of the link. The museum is working with experts in London and Paris to trace the art work's chain of custody and verify ownership.
The prominent paintings in question, "Santa Justa" and "Santa Rufina," were by Spanish artist Bartolome Esteban Murillo.
