OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Strong thunderstorms have left thousands without power in Oklahoma and the National Weather Service says tornadoes are possible later.
Forecaster Daryl Williams with the weather service in Norman says the storms moved into north-central Oklahoma before sunrise Wednesday with 60 mile per hour wind gusts and nickel-sized hail.
Oklahoma Gas and Electric reported about 3,350 customers without power with about 2,500 of those in the Edmond area. No injuries have been reported.
Williams said another storm system expected Wednesday afternoon has the potential to produce tornadoes and large hail in the western two-thirds of the state into Wednesday night.
The weather service has issued a severe thunderstorm warning in the Tulsa area and a storm watch across the northern half of Oklahoma.
