OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - The Oklahoma House has sustained Gov. Brad Henry's veto of legislation to allow concealed gun license holders to carry their weapons openly.

The House voted 65-29 Thursday to override Henry's veto, less than the two-thirds vote needed. At least 68 members of the 101-member chamber must agree to override a gubernatorial veto.

The bill originally passed the House 74-24. Its author, Republican Rep. Rex Duncan of Broken Arrow, says he believes pressure from the Democratic governor prompted 11 Democrats who originally voted for the bill to either vote no or not vote at all.

Duncan says the bill is designed to enhance public safety. But opponents say criminals could grab exposed weapons and endanger public safety.

Duncan says he'll try again to override the veto.
