AMARILLO, TX -- If you're needing a reason to pick up some energy saving devices, you can save even more when you shop this weekend.

It's a tax free holiday kicking off the Memorial day weekend. If you buy any energy star appliances with certain restrictions, you won't be paying state taxes on them.

And it's not just the big ticket items, everything from thermostats to light bulbs fall under the tax free umbrella, according to Lowe's appliance manager, Hugh Fristoe.

"Replacing a light bulb can save you 97 dollars over an 11-year period, by simply switching to an energy star flourescent bulb. So there are a lot of small items that could cost you 5 to 7 dollars that can end up saving you a lot over their lifetime."

And a double dip of savings if you go to Lowe's as they just announced a special holiday sale to help you save even more this weekend.
