CANYON,TEXAS -- After 3 long years of planning, Canyon's City Commission has given the go-ahead to a million dollar project to improve city parks.

At Brown Road Park, new soccer fields will be built so the city will be able to rotate fields around town and not play on the same one all the time. The park's also getting new rest rooms and concession stands.

The city will build a new pavilion and rest rooms at Conner Park.

Southeast Park will soon have a new scorekeeper's booth at the baseball complex.

"I've been parks director for twenty two years, and we've never had a project this big. So this is coming from our CEDC and the city budget, it's just a great thing," said Lowell Boozer, Canyon Parks Director.

Boozer plans to retire soon and says there couldn't be a better way to leave. Canyon hopes to get this project started by late summer.
