AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Those storms from Monday night had everyone on edge with the sirens going off a couple different times in Amarillo and Canyon.

There were a couple reported brief small tornado touchdowns near Spearman, but no reports of any major damage.

About a half a dozen homes suffered flood damage from the heavy rains and we had plenty of active weather as the dry line started backing up, spawning storms on top of the city, accoridng to Steve Drillette with the National Weather Service.

"Obvuiously last night was kind of unique...our storms were backbuilding and we expect to have them move to the east and get out of our area...but last night, was the reverse of that as they continued to develop further and further west even as we we progressed through the night."

The reported circulation around Amarillo and Canyon last night was attributed to radar and spotters, and Drillette says it's always better to err on the cautious side when it comes to tornado warnings.
