Students at Gene Howe get some hands on learning the last day of school.
AMARILLO,TEXAS -- Teachers and students at Gene Howe Elementary school celebrated their last day in class with a little hands on learning.
Friday morning students were able to experience about 18 different professions and hobbies - giving them an up close and personal experience.
From painting butterflies, to shooting targets with a bow and arrow, and even the live experience of an eight foot long, 40 pound albino burmese python.
"We wanted a fun last day for our students and teachers, and it's educational for career day and to see what all options are available for the kids to do later in life and also a hobby, lifetime hobbies," said Melody Howard with the PTA.
Due to the success of career and hobby day, Howard hopes to see this event happen next year for both the students and teachers.
