AMARILLO,TEXAS -- Summer weather has made its way to the Panhandle with temperatures expected to soar into the triple digits this weekend. With that said it's a perfect time to talk about our annual Pronews 7 Fan Drive. It's underway right now, and we'd love to see you donate something that could help save a life.
For the past several years Pronews 7 has partnered with Texas Dodge and 211 Texas to help got fans to those in need. We're asking for box fans, that will be donated to the elderly, disabled, and families with children around the age of 2 years of age.
Not everyone has the best circulation in their homes. So, we need your help to help them stay cool during these hot summer months.
"It's really important especially with the children and elderly, they have a higher chance of dehydration and heat stroke, so it's key that we keep these households nice and cool for the summer cause it could be dangerous for them," Desire Mosteller, with 211 Texas.
We had over 60 donations last year, and we would like to surpass that this year. It's easy to donate, just go by the Guyon Saunders Resource Center, or Texas Dodge on I-40 West, or right here at our studios downtown.
Also, coming up next week with 211 Texas and the Guyon Saunders Resource Center is their summer outreach program for their clients.
It's from 10-2:00 p.m. On June 12th at the Resource Center at 200 South Tyler. Lunch is provided and there will be HIV testing, hygiene kits, clothing, heat illness prevention, and several other services will be available. So, if you're in need for any of these services head on over or call 211 for more information.
