AMARILLO,TEXAS -- Now that school is out for the summer, some of you parents may be wondering what to do with your kids. The Amarillo Public Library has kicked off its Summer Reading Program. Reading isn't the only fun to be had, there are special events planned all month long.

Wednesday at the North Branch Library, it was bubbles and sidewalk art. The program encourages youngsters to read every day, and track their reading. Prizes are awarded for their progress, and the bubbles definitely don't hurt.

"During summer reading program there is a special program for kids every weekday, and it's at a different location, so on Tuesday it's at the East Library, on Thursday it's at the downtown library. And so all through June there's a program everyday for kids," said Stacey Clopton with Amarillo Public Library.
