Borger murder suspect indicted

BORGER,TEXAS -- A Hutchinson County Grand Jury met Thursday and returned an indictment charging Jose Israel Rodas with murder, a first degree felony.

Rodas, is accused of stabbing and killing Gloria Arias Mendez. Thirty-six year-old, Mendez, was found dead in her Borger home the night of April 17. Police say she was stabbed more than 20 times.

Police arrested Rodas April 21, after several law enforcement agencies assisted in capturing him north of Borger.

If convicted he faces 5-99 years in prison, or life, and up to a $10,000 fine. Rodas remains incarcerated in the Hutchinson County jail, with his bond being denied.
