A Hereford man who was found guilty of capital murder in the death of a 17-month old baby girl has filed an appeal. Daniel Felipe Perez, submitted his appeal to the 7th Court of Appeals.

Perez was found guilty in October of 2009, and sentenced to life in prison without parole.

In March of 2008, Hereford police responded to a 911 call that an infant was not breathing. When they arrived they found Perez bleeding from his wrists and a baby girl in her crib not breathing. Perez was transported to the hospital and treated for his wounds. Police believe the 17 month old baby girl Kira Tijerina died from blunt force trauma to the head, the night before around 10:00 pm.
