PALO DURO CANYON,TEXAS -- The 4th year for 24 Hours in the Canyon wrapped up Sunday afternoon.
This year's theme was "Cancer Doesn't Sleep...Why Should We?." About 600 cyclists came out for the event this year. Many camped in the Canyon as their team rode on, and this weekend's triple digit temperature didn't stop them from riding.
They were all well prepared for the heat and cyclists said it wasn't a factor because they were supporting a good cause.
Ninety percent of what the group raises stays here in Amarillo for patients here in the Panhandle. The other 10% goes to the Lance Armstrong Foundation for Cancer Research. Early numbers show that about $100,000 was raised, if that number is correct that would be double what was raised last year.
