BIG SPRING, Texas (AP) - A now-former aide at a state veterans home in Big Spring has been acquitted of an abuse charge over a 2007 incident in which a 97-year-old man allegedly was hurt.

A Howard County jury on Tuesday acquitted 25-year-old Bryan Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt was charged with injury to a child, elderly or disabled person over the incident at Lamun-Lusk-Sanchez Texas State Veterans Home.

The Dallas Morning News, through open records laws, obtained investigation documents of the incident in which John Harris, who was a World War II Navy veteran, allegedly was thrown onto a bed.

Prosecutor Hardy Wilkerson says there was no photographic evidence or other documentation of injuries.

Harris died in 2008.
