AMARILLO, TX -- The Harrington Cancer Center was a place for celebrating life Friday at a survivors celebration.
The day is recognized world-wide as a celebration of life with almost 11-million people uniting with a history of cancer in their lives.
Locally, hundreds of survivors turned out at the carnival type atmosphere with games, food, music, and fellowship to honor the day.
C.E.O., Paul Hancock of the Harrington Cancer Center, says this day is the most appreciated day of the year.
"I think the attendance itself tells you it's meaningful to have a day where they can mark the fact that they are a survivor of cancer."
Alehia Sotelo was in attendance supporting her mom, who was at the cancer center for her last chemotherapy treatment.
"I want her to be done with this...I want her to be cancer free. This is her last day of chemo, so I'm really excited, especially on her last day of chemo and here we have this little get together so I'm really happy for her."
This marks the 6th Annual Cancer Survivors Day Celebration.
