AMARILLO, TEXAS -- A fallen hero's daughter was given a special fathers day gift when she went to meet here family for lunch.

Rachel Hardy's father Rex Purviance served in the United States Army for 16 year, he even served in Desert Storm. He died back in May of 2008 in a tragic motorcycle accident. So the Iron Soldiers, a motorcycle group out of Childress that honors fallen soldiers showed up, and gave Rachel an award for her fathers service.

"I was very shocked, it came as a very hard deal for me. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't miss him, and it's hard everyday especially Fathers Day.  It's a very big honor for me to have this award, and I'm glad my family and friends thought that I deserved this," said Rachel Hardy.

Fallen soldier Rex Purviance was part of the 86th EVAC Hospital in the first Gulf War.
