WASHINGTON (AP) -- Its do or die for some congressional incumbents in today's runoff elections

South Carolina Republican Congressman Bob Inglis fights for his political life in a runoff with prosecutor Trey Gowdy.

Inglis has come under fire for not being conservative enough in one of the nation's most conservative districts.

In Utah, the only Democrat in the state's congressional delegation, Jim Matheson, faces his first primary challenge after nearly a decade in office from retired teacher Claudia Wright.

Some incumbents are seeking other offices, including South Carolina Congressman Gresham Barrett, who's battling Nikki Haley for the GOP gubernatorial nomination.

State Rep. Tim Scott is in a race that could make him South Carolina's first black GOP congressman in more than a century. He faces Paul Thurmond, son of the late Sen. Strom Thurmond.
