AMARILLO, TX -- Summer's been here several days now and for the Kwahadi dancers, that means it's time for their summer dance.  This is different from the winter dances because dancers are able to express their own style in small groups.

The dance features the Flag Dance or Soldier Honoring Dance which recognizes soldiers and leaders who have preserved our freedom. Other dances tell stories of the kwahadi and how they survived in the high plains.

"I guess you can say the dances make the kwahadi's closer to each other," said Maddy Dahl, the First Assitance Head Maiden. "The story that we bring out through all of our dances kinda changes a lot of how people look at their own lives because it tells the story of everyone's life and then from us dancing with a lot of color and a lot of enthusiasm it just being a lot of fun to it, " said Daniel Rigsby, the Peace Chief.

The Kwahadi's will perform every Friday and Saturday through July 17, 2010, except on Saturday July 3. Shows start at 7:30 PM and reservations are recommended.
