Police urge you to check your cash

AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Amarillo Police are investigating two reports of fake $100 bills being used at area garage sales.

According to police, each bill was passed at a separate sale in south Amarillo.  The suspect is described as a Hispanic female about 5’6” tall, in one instance she wore a blonde wig. The suspect allegedly purchased items costing less than $10.00 and received $90.00 in change.

Police are urging anyone who had a garage sale to check for fake $100.00 bills.  Both of fake bills recovered had the same serial number, AV19403670C. Police offered these tips to help prevent you from becoming a victim.

-Get a description of the people and their vehicle, including license plate number

-Immediately call the police at 378-3038
