BROWNFIELD, Texas (AP) - Two inmates who escaped from a West Texas jail are both back in custody.

Terry County Sheriff Larry Gilbreath said 23-year-old Cornelio Zepeda Delgado of Levelland returned to the Terry County Jail in Brownfield early Tuesday. Gilbreath tells The Associated Press that Delgado "just came walking in the lobby."

Gilbreath says his deputies arrested 35-year-old David Lee Rodriguez of Brownfield Tuesday afternoon.

Officials say the inmates crawled through an air conditioning vent into a ceiling area and out through a plumbing closet early Monday.

Rodriguez had been held since a May 23 domestic disturbance in which a child was hurt. He had been charged with attempted murder and assault causing bodily injury. Delgado was booked May 18 on charges of theft and failure to show identification.

Brownfield is 40 miles southwest of Lubbock.
