CANADIAN, TEXAS -- If you are looking for some where to go this holiday weekend but don't want to travel far, why not head to Canadian. The community there has a weekend packed full of fun.

It all gets started Friday night with a dance, followed with a parade Saturday morning. An arts and craft show will be in town, and don't forget about the turtle and duck races. That evening you can take part in a good ole' fashioned rodeo.

"It's a whole day of fun for families, we just welcome everyone to come experience Canadian, and I feel certain once they're here that they'll come back," said Jackie McPherson of the Canadian Chamber of Commerce.

Also Hemphill County officials would like to remind you this holiday that there is a firework ban inside city limits and on county owned property, but you can fire them off on private property with the owner's permission.
