New Mexico authorities have seized a half-pound of methamphetamine worth nearly $30,000 and arrested two people in connection with the drugs.
FARMINGTON, NEW MEXICO (AP) -- Curtis Ray Williams and Jessica Stopani were arrested during a search at their Farmington mobile home on Thursday.
The pair are charged with distribution of marijuana, trafficking methamphetamine and possession of a weapon by a felon.
Authorities confiscated the meth, more than 300 illegal prescription pills, $13,000 in cash and three firearms.
San Juan County sheriff's Sgt. Brice Current says prescription-drug abuse is a "big problem" in schools, and that a department task force has been fighting its spread by working with community groups.
It's unclear whether Williams and Stopani have attorneys.
