Lake Greenbelt drowning victim identified

CLARENDON, TEXAS -- UPDATE:

The Amarillo teen who was pulled from Lake Greenbelt this weekend has been identified.

Donley County Sheriff Butch Blackburn says the body of 17-year-old Justin Angel Salazar was pulled from the lake just before 2:00 a.m. Sunday morning.

Blackburn says his body has been sent for an autopsy, which is scheduled to be performed Tuesday.

One family is mourning the loss of a loved one, after he drowned in Lake Greenbelt over the holiday weekend.

Donley County Sheriff Butch Blackburn, tell us that police responded to a possible drowning call at North Sand Beach just before 12:45 a.m. Sunday.

The Clarendon Fire Department, Clarendon EMS, the Donley County Sheriff's office, along with the Wildlife Game Warden, and Greenbelt Water Authority all responded to the call. The fire department's dive team recovered the body of a 17-year-old Hispanic male just before two.

They found the teen, 25 feet from the shore in a water depth of about 12 feet. Police say he was swimming and got into some trouble.

An autopsy has been requested.
