SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico State Forestry Division will kick off its fall seedling distribution sale on Tuesday.
More than 110,000 seedlings will be available for public purchase through the Fall 2010 Conservation Seedling Program.
Seedlings are available to landowners who have at least one acre in New Mexico and who agree to use the trees for conservation purposes, such as erosion control, wildlife habitat, reforestation or windbreak establishment.
Tree species include Arizona cypress, blue spruce, ponderosa pine and others.
State Forester Butch Blazer says planting trees in the fall will help them prepare for growth in the warmer months.
Sales begin Tuesday at the agency's website and by mail-in order form. The seedlings will be distributed starting in September.
