Beginning Wednesday morning motorists should prepare for lane closures and delays on Bell Street as the water main abandonment project continues.
The city says construction will begin at the intersection of Bell and 34th, and the following lane closures will continue through Thursday afternoon July 8th.
Bell Street:
Northbound: 1 lane closed
Southbound: 2 lanes closed
34th Ave.
Eastbound: 1 lane closed
Westbound: 2 lanes closed
The construction is part of an ongoing upgrade and maintenance of the City of Amarillo's water distribution system. The abandonment of the old 12" water main is a continuation of a project to complete the replacement of a one-mile long section of a 12" water main in S. Bell St. from I-40 south to SW 34th Avenue.
