Christopher Lee Cox, charged with Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon
AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Potter County Deputies have a suspect in custody accused stabbing two people early Sunday morning.
According to the release deputies were called out around 2:00 a.m. to a reported stabbing in the 8400 block of North US Hwy 287.
When the deputies arrived they found two victims suffering from knife type wounds. One victim was stabbed in his side, while the other was wounded in the neck.
Initial reports indicate that the victims were attempting to stop what they believed to be a sexual assault in progress. When the two stabbing victims confronted the sexual assault suspect he produced a knife and assaulted the two victims.
The suspect, Christopher Lee Cox, was struck on the head with a blunt object during the altercation and fled the scene. He was located a few blocks away and taken into custody.
The two victims and Cox were transported to an area hospital where they were treated for their injuries. None of the injuries appeared to be life threatening.
Cox has been booked into the Potter County Detention Center on two charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges may be filed at a later date.
