CURRY CO., N.M. -- Curry County Commissioners were busy Wednesday, they approved a $33 million finance plan for the county jail.
It will be paid for in two different ways. $16.5 million would come through general obligation bonds. Taxes would increase about $35 on a home with a value of $100,000. The rest would come from a proposed tax revenue bond paid for by a sales tax increase of a quarter percent.
Both will need to be approved by the voters, it's expected to be on the ballot in November.
Commissioners also gave the green light to alcohol sales at two concerts this year at the Curry County Fair.
Those concerts will be on Thursday, and Saturday nights in the event center. This will be the first year that alcohol sales have been allowed at the fair.
