CANYON, TEXAS -- The heavy rains forced the Palo Duro Creek Golf Course to close their doors for Thursday.
The second and seventh holes were described to Pronews 7 as having island greens, which is something of a rarity in the panhandle.
Course Superintendent John Haun tells us there was 12 to 20 inches of water on some parts of the course, and that caused them to close shop.
He says,"Of course, the golf course here is the low part of the Hunsley Hills area, so everything drains down to here, and so we're flooded today, and consequently we had to close the course."
Haun tells us that despite the standing water, they were turning golfers away that wanted to play anyway.
He's hopeful that the excess water will drain away in time to open back up on Friday.
