AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The wake boarding competition at Lake Tanglewood kicked off Saturday under a blue sky.
It's the only one in Amarillo. Wake boarding is a water sport which involves riding a board over the surface of the water and the Lake Tanglewood water sports association says it's growing.
About 20 riders competed in Saturday's competition. Riders ranged from nine years old to 35 years old, and that included many families from Lubbock, even a rider from Tennessee, and a family from Alaska that watched the event.
"This brings people together from all over the panhandle and it's a family event and it's a community event and Lake Tanglewood is a wonderful community. Everybody gets out and supports each other and it's actually kinda fun to have all the families out here watching," said William Ware, from the Lake Tangelwood Water Sports Association.
This is the fourth year for the associations competition.
