NEW MEXICO (AP) -- ELEPHANT BUTTE STATE PARK, N.M. (AP) - Authorities say a small ultralight plane made a forced landing on Elephant Butte Lake early Sunday afternoon, but the pilot was rescued and had only minor injuries.

New Mexico State Parks spokeswoman Jodie Porter says the craft had engine trouble and went into the water near the lake's Kettle Top area.

She says the plane sank to the bottom of the lake. Park boating officers were investigating. The state Department of Public Safety says there were no reports of any other injuries.
