OWASSO, Okla. (AP) - For the second time in 24 hours, a plane crash in northeastern Oklahoma has killed three people.

The second fatal crash happened Sunday about 8:15 p.m. The Oklahoma Highway Patrol says 64-year-old Richard Shimer of Owasso was flying the 1973 Cessna 177 eastbound approaching Gundy's Airport in Owasso when for an unknown reason, the plane began to lose altitude.

Troopers say the plane crashed nose first and came to rest about 100 yards north of the runway.

Shimer and his two passengers, 55-year-old Lonnie Hardin of Tulsa and 53-year-old Joseph Provenzano of Tulsa, all died.

On Saturday night, another small plane cashed at Mohawk Park in Tulsa, killing the three men aboard. They were all executives of high-end off-road motorcycle maker US Highland Inc. in Mounds.
