AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Updated Story:
A panhandle man is being a called a hero in two different states, here in Texas and in Oklahoma. Shane Ward was driving home with his family from a weekend in Oklahoma City when he saw a semi-truck rear-end a pickup with a horse trailer attached.
The impact threw the pickup over an overpass, caused it to roll-over, and that's when Ward went into action.
"I ran up there, and the first lady that was driving the car was upside down and she was wedged in the opening and I was able to get her out and then from there Sylvia, the 12 year old girl, she was able to crawl out there, and her, and the third lady, her other aunt, so..," said Ward, who saved the family in that car wreck.
Ward said he spoke to the family and friends of the family. They are calling him a hero, which he says is humbling, and he's just happy everyone is okay.
He hopes if that happens to him, he hopes someone would stop to help.
