OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) - Oral arguments are scheduled on a request to block a state law requiring pregnant women to have an ultrasound and hear a description of the fetus before getting an abortion.

The hearing is set Monday before Oklahoma County District Judge Noma Gurich. The law was temporarily blocked in May after the Center for Reproductive Rights in New York sued to have it declared unconstitutional.

The law requires doctors to describe the fetus in detail, including its dimensions, whether arms, legs and internal organs are visible and whether there is cardiac activity.

The center says the law forces women to hear information that may not be relevant to their medical care and could interfere with the physician-patient relationship by compelling doctors to deliver unwanted speech.
