SANTA FE, N.M. (AP) - The New Mexico Department of Game and Fish has extended a comment period through July 22 on state listings of threatened and endangered species.
The department received no comments during a comment period from March 24 to June 21. The Game Commission extended the time earlier this month.
The commission adopted the current list in 2008, and the department is not recommending any changes.
The commission is expected to take up the proposal Aug. 28.
The list includes 119 threatened and endangered species, plus seven restricted nonnative species.
The law requires periodic reviews over whether the status of threatened or endangered wildlife species should be changed.
There's a separate process for adding or removing a species from the state list.
