New Clovis superintendent Terry Myers
CLOVIS, N.M. -- It took the Clovis School Board almost four hours last week to decide who their new superintendent would be.
For a few hours Monday, Terry Myers got to see more of his new community. The Clovis Municipal School District felt that it was a great opportunity to host a reception for the former Mount Pleasant ISD leader. They invited the community, parents, teachers, and even law enforcement to meet him and find out what he brings to the table.
The board, no doubt, liked Myers' resume. He's been in education for 32 years, being part of seven different school districts all over Texas. This will be his fifth time to be a superintendent, but it's a first in New Mexico.
He says being part of Clovis is an honor and can't wait to sit down with his staff and present some ideas to make the schools even better.
"What I'd like to do is see if I can contribute expertise or perhaps some ways I'm accustomed to doing things that would make us do things a little more efficient for kids in the school district."
On a personal note, Myers was a football coach for 14 years, and can't wait to be part of the great tradition the Eric Roanhause has established in Clovis. In fact, one of his gifts Monday was a Clovis Wildcat football shirt.
