One in four Texas teachers are having to moonlight, that's according to a new survey by researchers at Sam Houston State.
According to a report in the Dallas Morning News, the percentage of teachers who had second jobs this past year was the highest in the three decades that the study has been conducted.
Two-thirds of those teachers said the quality of their teaching would be better if they didn't have to work the second job. Of those surveyed 56 percent said they also worked during the summer break which is an increase from previous years.
The study was funded by the Texas State Teachers Association and is done every two years.
