AMARILLO, TEXAS -- For the second year in a row Amarillo is participating in the world wide photo walk. It's where local photography lovers made their way down 6th street to capture the essence of the historic part of that street.
The official website says in addition to taking pictures of the street side of the buildings there are some unique opportunities on the backs of the buildings as well as in the small alleys. Photographers were given a map of the route, which started at the Cornerstone Church of Amarillo and headed East until the group reached back to it's starting point.
"It's not about who has the biggest camera, who can be the most impressive, it's about comradery together and they just get to talk photography basically, and so it'll be interesting to see what Amarillo can do as opposed to people that are in South Africa or China or wherever they're located," said Jill Miller the Organizer of Photo Walk.
World Wide, in 2009, there were more than 900 walks with more than 32,000 photographers participating. If the average photographer takes about 300 photos during a photo walk, that's nearly 10 million pictures just on one single day.
