AMARILLO, TEXAS -- The Amarillo Fire Department is investigating the cause of a house fire that broke out Monday night in North Amarillo.
Fire officials said they were called to 1501 N. Arthur around 11:19pm.
There, firefighters found a large amount of smoke coming from the home. Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire before it spread to rooms in the rear of the house or into the attic. The residents reported smelling natural gas before the fire started. Rooms in the front of the home were severely damaged, there was also smoke damage throughout the house.
The fire department would like to remind people, if you smell gas, please call the Amarillo Fire Department or Atmos Energy.
