AMARILLO, TEXAS -- In Tuesday's City Commission meeting, commissioners were presented with a proposal for the 2011 city budget.
City officials tell us, compared to other Texas cities, Amarillo is doing well. Even though house appraisals are flat, they say property taxes would only increase slightly.
City experts think it's a modest budget with good capital prospects, and they're happy with how the new budget is shaping up.
"The department has done a heck of a job when it comes to spending, the manager asked for everyone to reduce their budgets by three percent and everyone responded well," said Dean Frigo, Assistant City Manager.
Frigo also says the city will still tinker with a few things in the budget before there's a final approval.
