CLOVIS, N.M. -- The Curry County employee fired for mistakenly letting an inmate go last week is now speaking out.
Teresa Braun tells the Clovis News Journal that she lacked training and support that might have prevented the mistake.
Braun was fired for releasing 45-year-old Johnny Cordova on July 21, he was recaptured without incident on Tuesday.
Braun claims she asked for training on numerous occassions, but Administrator Keith Norwood says Braun never came to him with that request.
Norwood, who took over command of the facility the second week in June, said booking officers receive initial training and are then assigned to work with a more experienced officer.
