Troopers confiscate 260 pounds of pot, and more than 2,700 grams of meth in two separate traffic stops.
On Tuesday, around 9:40, a Trooper working in Wheeler County on I-40 stopped a 2002 Chevrolet pick up for traffic violation, 4 miles east of Mclean.
The driver, Adrian Sancristobal, 38, of El Paso, and his passenger Omar A. Pena, 30, San Elizario, were traveling from El Paso to Oklahoma City.
During the stop, the trooper was granted consent to search the vehicle.
During that search, the Trooper found 260 pounds of marijuana, in the rear seat of the vehicle. The pot was valued at $84,500.
The driver and passenger were arrested and booked into the Wheeler County jail for possession of marijuana.
Also on Tuesday, around 6:15 p.m., a trooper in Carson County on I-40 stopped a Chevrolet SUV for a traffic violation, 2 miles east of Conway.
During that stop, consent to search the vehicle was granted. The search revealed 2,276 grams of methamphetamine hidden inside a propane tank. The tank was in the cargo area of the vehicle, and the drugs are valued at $248,102.
The driver, Juan Carlos Ochoa-Garcia, 26, of Rogers Arkansas, and the passenger, Benjamin Ochoa-Gallardo, 39, of San Jacinto, California, were both arrested and booked into the Carson County jail. Both were booked on charges of possession of a controlled substance.
