FRITCH, TEXAS -- Even though much of the Panhandle set records for precipitation in the month of July, the levels at Lake Meredith continue their steady decline. Unfortunately, record lows are being set at the lake.

Right now, Meredith is at 42.99 feet. If the level gets to 42 feet authorities at the lake will be forced to turn on low level pumps to ensure that communities that use water from Meredith get an adequate supply.

The level is dropping almost an inch each day, and officials say it's likely the pumps will have to be turned on by the middle of this month.
