AMARILLO, TEXAS -- Instead of restoring a new Martha's home house, the builders are going to demolish it, but that's a good thing. "Once it was gutted, we got to looking, the floorings are bad, the supports underneath it are bad, the rood is not up to code, it just came out easier to just strip it down," said Winston Allen, from the Texas Panhandle Builders Association Remodelers Council.
They'll take the frame down to dirt, then pour a cement slab and build a whole new house. Four families will share the home, which will have four bedrooms, three bathrooms, and a large living area and dining area, a large kitchen and utility room as well, for a grand total of about 2,500 square feet.
Since the home is right next to other Martha's homes, the backyard plan is a little different. Instead of sectioning it off for every house, it's going to be one long backyard with toys and plenty of room for the kids.
