Big news for West Texas A&M University and those interested in pursuing a degree in civil engineering. During a conference Thursday, the university's president announced the addition of a Bachelor of Science degree with a major in civil engineering program that starts this fall. Currently, 250 students are enrolled in the engineering program, but that number is expected to rise. This is exciting news for students in this area looking to stay close to home.
"We are going to be able to fulfill a need which exist in the industry right now for additional engineers and we are going to be able to provide those engineers from the panhandle to the panhandle." says Dr. Patrick O'Brien, WTAMU President.
Most of the civil engineering courses will be at the Canyon campus.
